2014 Minister's Seniors Service Awards

On June 4, 2014, Catherine Blink and Jean Helland accepted a Seniors Service Award on behalf of Sherwood Park 55 Plus Club. Associate Ministers of Seniors, George VanderBurg and Dave Quest, presented the award.

Celebrating its 40th anniversary, the Sherwood Park 55 Plus Club is a place where seniors can socialize and participate in recreational activities. The club started from meager beginnings, meeting in the basement of a small building, but quickly grew when the members fundraised to upgrade the facility and construct an addition that accommodates 250 members.

The centre offers many different recreational activities, arranges guest speakers on a range of topics, and has specialized areas to play pool, read, and watch television.

The Club operates with member volunteers. Our Club is a success because of our volunteers.

2014 Pride of Strathcona Award

On June 23, 2014 Strathcona County presented the 2014 Pride of Strathcona Awards to Sherwood Park 55 Plus Club.

The Sherwood Park 55 Plus Club began 40 years ago in the basement of the Log Cabin. Over the years, it has grown to offer many activities for Sherwood Park and surrounding area residents. There’s the Christmas Craft Sale, the Strawberry Tea, and outings such as Saturday supper at a local restaurant. There’s always someone to lend a listening ear and support. This welcoming club has made a positive difference for many over its long and active history.
